@ Lisa

I like where your going with the "when more than one person is involved it leads to poor decisions." I am reminded of the movie "Men In Black" when Will Smith finds out there is aliens and Tommy Lee says that they cannot tell the world because "individuals are smart, but people are dumb." In our current government we have been raised to have the government think for us. They are always supposed to have the answers. We are finding more than ever that they do not.

Its funny you answered this today knowing that the U.S Government just passed a bill to bail out the nations largest insurance company (AIG), took over Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac this week, bought Lehman Brothers, and bought all of the bad mortgages that are crippling the stock market. Funny thing is that all of the CEO's of those companys that made millions of dollars do not have to pay it back. They knew what they were doing. Now, since our Government leaders want to fix things ALL Americans picked up the bill on these bad debts. Yup, you and I are part owner of some of the worst investments the world has ever made.

I think the only thing government should do is provide security, i.e, a military, police, fire departments and that is really it. With the military it should only protect OUR borders, and not have bases around the world protecting other countries borders.

From what you wrote it sounds like you would like to have the power to make your own decisions and that you would be capable of doing it. The education sustem is really out there. It took me awhile to think it through. Now I understand why Ron Paul said it. By making the U.S Government control the way all kids are taught you are working against the strengths and weaknesses of each state and community. Let the communities decide what to teach their kids. For instance, I live in Detroit and should have been force fed engineering, computers, and anything technological. Well, I did not get into any of those enough to were it interested me to pursue. I went to college and got a business degree (which specializes in nothing) and now have to entertain the idea of going back to school and learning a skill. I am not saying that 100% of what high schools teach kids should be just what the community wants them to learn, but maybe 75% instead of 15%. The problem is that we (all Americans) keep voting for two parties that are never going to change anything.

I hope you watched the Ron Paul video I attached and it gets you to start thinking about a U.S where "we the People" means something.

I appreciate the way you've broken down each issue and your thoughts on each one. While I do not believe that "more government" is ever the answer to the problems we face, I have to wonder about peoples (as an overall group) ability to manage some things for themselves. As Americans the stereotypical reaction is "this is a free country and I can do whatever I want" which on occasion leads to very poor decisions, especially when more than one person is involved in the results of your actions. I think a person should be held accountable for the decisions they make, I guess I'm just a little pessimistic that this will ever happen. I also feel that we need a government that incourages people to think beyond themselves. However, just being told what to do is only for the weakminded, but most people are so demoralized with the system that it has quite working. I don't think taking all of the power from the goverment is the right idea, but giving a majority of it back to the individual might just make a difference. I guess I have to say that I agree with some of your points (ie. healthcare, military), but can't quite get behinds others (ie. unemployment, education).

@ Michelle

You obviously did not read anything that I wrote. You are probably just like the other 88% of Americans that vote based on popularity and not on what the real issues are. More than likely you went on Google and did a search for anything Barack Obama related and instead of debating with me on the topics its just easier to try and sell me on why Barack Obama will be a great President. Obviously I do not think he will provide any "Change" for the U.S.

ALL AMERICANS!

We are in the most trying times in our history and so much is at stake.

Take a moment and seriously give consideration to the organization and well-managed campaign of Barack Obama.

He went up against the BEST, CUT-THROAT NEGATIVE ADS FROM JOHN MCCAIN and is on his way to the White House.

If Barack's campaign is an indication of how he would run our Country, with first rate diplomacy, fiscally controlling a budget and at the forefront putting EVERY AMERICAN FIRST, in my opinion, that is what AMERICA NEEDS.

Barack Obama brings more than just "change", he brings a fresh new vision, putting ALL AMERICANS EQUALLY IMPORTANT, UNITY, BRINGING OUR TROOPS HOME WITH DIGNITY AND RE-DEPLOYING THEM TO WHERE THE "REAL" FRONT ON TERROR IS, AFHGANISTAN AND PAKISTAN.

JOE BIDEN, A SENIOR STATESMEN along with BARACK OBAMA WILL
RESTORE OUR STANDING IN THE WORLD AND SAVE THE "HARD" WORKING MIDDLE AMERICA WHO SUFFERS THE MOST AND BRING PROSPERITY BACK.

To make this happen, on ELECTION DAY, VOTE FOR BARACK OBAMA/BIDEN 08 FOR PRESIDENT.

YES WE CAN...CHANGE AMERICA!
